Lights, cameras, fuel injection! That was the call Marren Fuel Injection (MFI), an Oxford, CT based fuel injection company heard from Paramount Pictures when they were filming the movie “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” in New Haven, CT (scheduled for release May 08). The movie’s special effects unit wanted to modify six 2007 Harley’s to look like they were the actual motorcycles from the 1957 setting of the film. According to Marren Fuel Injection President, Tim Marren, Harley Davidson used a much smaller fuel tank on the older motorcycles while the 2007 model has a much larger tank. “A couple of technicians from Paramount spent a few days in our fabrication shop where we modified the fuel injection system to use the smaller fuel tank. The original tanks have most of the fuel injection parts in the tank. Our company builds special products that can be mounted externally to supply fuel to the engine” Marren noted. “We wanted it to look like an older motorcycle and it was really fun to work on. It isn’t every day that Hollywood comes here, so, here we were making custom fuel injection units for a chopper that Harrison Ford would be using” he said. Marren plans to see the film the weekend it opens. “The entire Marren team will be cheering when they crank those choppers!” said Marren. The film, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” stars Shia LaBeouf and Cate Blanchette along with Harrison Ford. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg with George Lucas as the Executive Producer. Marren Fuel Injection is a division of Marren Motor Sports that has been building fuel injection systems and race cars for more than 22 years at their headquarters in Oxford, CT www.injector.com
